Nominations for Board of Directors positions for 2026 are open! Are you interested in joining the MDAFP or Board of Directors? Do you know any Academy member who would make a great addition to the MDAFP Board? Do the descriptions below sound like you or someone you know?
If the answer is YES, then we want to hear from you! The deadline to submit your nominations is Wednesday, October 1.

MDAFP value and seek diverse leadership from all practice types and sizes and we would love to have you join our Board of Directors!
Nominees will need to provide a current statement of interest along with a current CV. If you believe a colleague would be a great fit and would like to nominate them, provide us with a statement of support with the nominee's contact information, including email and phone.
Open Positions for 2026:
Below are the following duties/responsibilities of an MDAFP board member:
President-Elect and Vice President terms are 1 year. The Treasurer term is 1 year and may be eligible for multiple terms. Directors terms are 3 years and directors may be eligible to serve up to 2 terms. AAFP Delegate and AAFP Alternate Delegate terms are 2 years and they may be eligible to serve up to 3 terms.
Open positions will begin upon installation in February at the MDAFP Annual Business Meeting. The board meets in person three times per year and participates in strategic planning. Board members are expected to participate in all meetings, read the board materials ahead of time and participate in the discussion at the meeting. In addition to in-person meetings, board members are to be responsive to electronic board communications (emails, surveys, etc.) as necessary. In addition, an annual strategic planning meeting which is held in conjunction with one of the board meetings.
Nominations are vetted by the MDAFP Nominating Committee, then presented to the Board of Directors for approval. The final slate will be brought to the assembly of members at the Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
