The Maryland Academy of Family Physicians-Foundation is excited to announce that we will be providing $800 scholarships for Maryland medical students to attend AAFP's FUTURE Conference on July 30-August 1, 2026, in Kansas City, MO.
FUTURE is the national conference for the future of Family Medicine. Don’t miss the unique opportunity to network with other medical students from across the country, listen in on cutting-edge continuing medical education sessions on the latest in Family Medicine, and to connect with future residency programs and employers.
Scholarships are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for students at each of Maryland’s medical schools. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2026.
*Note: Applicants for MDAFP - Foundation scholarships must also apply for an AAFP scholarship. AAFP scholarships supersede MDAFP-F scholarships, so students can only receive one scholarship to the conference. Students who receive an AAFP scholarship will be eligible for a $200 supplemental scholarship from MDAFP-F to ensure all students are given the same opportunities.
Recipients will be asked to submit a brief summary of their experience that will be shared with donors. Scholarship checks will be awarded at the FUTURE Conference. If you are unable to attend the FUTURE Conference, your scholarship will be forfeited.

Maryland medical students are learning about and solidifying their interest in family medicine by attending the AAFP FUTURE Conference for Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.
This annual event provides them opportunities to attend workshops and procedure sessions, connect with hundreds of family medicine residencies and employers, learn leadership development skills and network with students, residents and physicians who have common interests.
“What I enjoy the most about family medicine is the opportunity to form strong longitudinal relationships with my patients. I will get to treat children as the grow up and continue to be their doctor even when they are adults and start having families of their own. I will be the doctor they feel most trusted to come to about their medical needs.
The summer after my first year of medical school, I had the opportunity to attend national conference and that's where I solidified my decision to become a family medicine physician. This year I am excited to attend a second time and hope to take advantage of the residency fair and find a program that best fits my family medicine goals.”
