Topic #1 UNDERSTANDING DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY: DIAGNOSIS AND EVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENT

  • Identify the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria and key clinical features of common depressive and anxiety disorders.
  • Distinguish between depressive and anxiety disorders and relevant differential diagnoses using symptom presentation, course, and severity. 
  • Select evidence-based pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic treatments for depression and anxiety based on current clinical guidelines.
  • Integrate diagnostic assessment and treatment strategies into clinical decision-making for patients presenting with depressive and anxiety symptoms.
